Massage and IBS ...

I read where when getting a deep tissue massage can cause IBS/diarrhea because of the toxins that are being released and can stimulate the colon/intestines. I'm not sure if its true, but I suppose it makes sense and just wondered if anyone else knows of this or has experienced this? I had a very deep tissue massage yesterday and have had stomach pain and diarrhea all day not to mention the soreness I feel from the massage! I have had IBS for years because I do have a problem with proper water intake and yes today, I haven't even had 8 oz of liquid because I feel so badly. I haven't had an episode in a long time and also wondered if IBS can make you feel chilled or flu like?
Thanks for your reply.

Re: Massage and IBS ...

Strangely I have the reverse. I get some relief by massaging the abdomen with a small orbital sander ( no sandpaper attached) for a couple of minutes.
( Ask your doctor if sanding is right for you)
