    My Solution

After 6 months of symptoms with no relief my doctor put me on 25mg of Desipramine. Symptoms are 95% gone for over a week now. A complete 180.

Glad it is working for you. What were your symptoms and why did your doc decide on an antidepressant since those tend to cause GI issues?

    Re: My Solution

I was having stomach pains, gurgling and diarrhea about 5 times a day. A normal dose for Desipramine is 100-200mg for depression but appearantly when administered in low doses 15-25mg it is helpful with ibs-d symptoms.

    Re: My Solution

I've been on Imipramine, which I believe is in the Desipramine family, for 10 of the 19 yrs I've had IBS-D. It's a low dose and it has done wonders for the diarrhea. It doesn't completely stop it so I add one or two Imodium. This combination for me has quickened the healing process. I also drink an herbal bed time tea which seems to help calm my colon. Hope this info might help you.
