    Burning Stomach

Has anyone had a burning stomach with their IBS. I have had IBS since I was 12 but now that I am 53 I have been having a burning stomach that comes and goes. Not sure if it is related to my IBS or if I have GERD now.

IBS and GERD are not the same; GERD is more of a burning situation; are you on any PPIs or anything for the acid reflux? Thats what GERD essentially is- but it is more severe.

Go see a GI doctor; they can prescribe something to make your life more comfortable...in the meantime, keep a food journal and write down everything you eat to try to see what might be causing you to have this reaction. Not all foods should be causing this. Stay away from acidic foods (orange juice, coffee and tomatoes or tomato sauce) and spicy foods.. see if that helps. Your doctor will want you to list what you eat anyway, so this can give you a jump on what he is going to ask you.

    Hope you feel better soon!

Thanks. I will have to go see my dr. I eat a lot of chocolate and I think that does not help.
