I know laxatives can hurt your system...but if you just cant go for a week, even with meds and fiber, are enemas and suppositories your best bet? I have to do something.

Enemas are what always work for me.

Good luck

Hi Courtneyclv,

Hate to strum the same guitar, but have you tried a quarter of a pill of bile salts to see if that helped you?

Cheers, Raju.

Enemas are alittle more far reachng than suppositories.Enemas reach futher up the colon than suppositories. It sure beats taking a laxative that can cause cramps and gas and bloating.

Will your body start to depend more on stimulant pill laxatives then enemas and suppositories? I mean..will you become use to those methods and get a lazy colon from them as much as stimulant pills? I like laxative pills, even with the cramping because they clean me all out. I can use two enemas and four suppositories and still be stopped up. I just don't want to mess up my colon. How can I get it to work on it's own if meds dont even work?

I work in a healthfood store and was talking to a man the other day who has IBS-C. This man takes psyllium powder which is Metamucil, only better from the health food store because it is minimally processed and cascara sagrada (a natural laxative) mixed in juice or water each morning. Says it works very well for him.
