    My cat and being sick.

My cat she's 6 and has a bladder infection, she's peeing every couple of minutes and reddish. I took her to the vet on Monday since it started Saturday. I got antibiotics for her and she has to take them for 15 days. She's also doing it on the bed so I'm not sure how to keep her off the bed and I don't really want to. But I don't want to be sleeping on the sheets with that or washing them everyday. So any ideas? Plus I like having her on my bed. I miss cuddling with her.

Hi..been there! Your poor kitty....is this the first time for her to have an infection?

Regarding snuggling with your kitty, you could use large incontinence pads purchased from a medical supply store and put them over your bed and on your lap if she likes to lay on you.

Hope the meds kick in and your kitty starts feeling better soon.

When my kitty had urinary infections, she did not want to snuggle...but if yours does- try putting a soft towel down under her...at least that way if she bleeds or wets, you only have to wash the towel. She will let you know if she would rather be left alone.
My kitty responded to the antibiotics within 24 hours and started feeling better, but the longer dose is to keep it from coming back. Make sure you follow your vets instructions!

Adding that if there are issues with your cat's infection reoccurring, ask your vet to do a culture of the infection. As well, there is a med called Convenia, it's a single shot that lasts 2 weeks. Our cat responded quickly with it. She did have Interstitial cystitis....sometimes infection, other times not.

Please keep us updated as to how she is doing.

My cat actually doesn't want to snuggle. It's not something I noticed right away. But she'd rather be on the couch. There are times when she comes on my lap durring the day or early evening but it's not like she normally does, I guess the meds could be kicking in.
