Mild Cortical Thinning of the kidneys

OK, so I got my ultrasound results back yesterday. It said my kidneys are of normal size, echogenicity, and echotexture. But it also said there is mild cortical thinning. Does anyone have any info they could share about cortical thinning ? I looked at the symptoms of the 5 stages of kidney disease and didn't see it listed as a symptom. Does that automatically mean that I'm in stage 5 and my kidneys could shut down any day ? I would have thought that with thinning the kidneys would be smaller than normal size.
