    Question Ice?

    Hey guys,

I popped my knee pretty badly last night as I was getting into bed. Since then it keeps cracking, and it feels a little swollen (like there may be fluid in there). I can walk on it, but it definitely feels 'bloated.' Just wondering if putting an icepack on it is the correct procedure?

I'm not entirely sure what you mean by popped. If it is swollen (and/or red/hot to touch) ice is definitely a good idea as well as keeping it elevated. You shouldn't do it longer than 20 minutes (ideally 10-15 3 times a day). If it is swollen, it might also be a good idea to take ibroprofen. But if it keeps cracking and stays swollen for a few days you sure get medical help (especially if you have had a previous injury). Keep your knee mobile, keeping it still will allow fluid build up. If the pain suddenly becomes severe, you should get help

    Re: Ice?

    Thank you Jumpingbeans

The cracking subsided a little today, but there's still a bit of swelling and discomfort. There's no redness or warmth though, which I'm grateful for, as it was a rather loud pop.

I'm hoping it'll slowly heal itself over the next few days, but I'm going to use some anti-inflammatory gel on it also, just in case.
