    chronic hip pain mystery

I have hip pain which is activated by movement, which has lasted I don't know how long now, perhaps 6 months or more.

In the past I have occasionally had transient bodily pains that pass in a few months so I assumed this was another of those and didn't think much of it - but it seems determined to stick around, and also seems to be getting gradually more severe with time.

At first I could only feel this pain when I was doing stretching exercises, but starting a month or so ago I began to feel it when walking as well - so it is being triggered now by a wider range of movements, and also by less strenuous movements.

I have not suffered any kind of injury I can identify as the cause of this.

Has anyone experienced anything similar and found anything that was effective for curing the problem?

Also, if anyone could recommend exercises that tend to be effective for relieving hip pain, I'd appreciate it.

    Thanks.

I would consult a dr or physical therapist. (Some states do not require a dr referral for therapy) and have them check it out. I let my gradual onset hip pain go for years before talking to a dr. And now i will need surgery to repair it.

I am trying to unravel tight hips & glutes at moment which are causing a pain in my leg when I walk so I thought I'd suggest to look at that. Is it front of hip or back? Does it feel bony or muscular?

Weak glutes can cause all sorts of issues as they are the main muscle assisting movement . Look up some stretches targeting that area & also work on strengthening.

Its something I've neglected- im active and normal weight but literally just put up with the discomfort for 6 months before realizing I can do something about it.

Not sure if that's your issue but perhaps worth looking into if you feel you may be weak in that area.

I have hip pain on one side but mine happens during the night. It's fine during the day but I stay fairly active. I have to wonder if it's due to lack of circulation from the anatomical / figure changes that happen after hysterectomy. I haven't had any imaging tests yet.
