Hi folks this is my first message / thread so go easy

I have had both me knee-caps removed due to severe chondromalacia patella which was eating away at my knee-caps ony partial left before surgery. My right knee which was done first 2 years ago is pretty much as good as I am ever going to get. My left knee was done last year and I have had nothing but problems. I am now on consultant number 5 as the others were at a loss.

I am now having severe pain in my left hip & grion area when walking and sometimes sitting. Has anybody else had the similiar problem and if so was the hip pain due to the way you are walking after patellectomy.

    Re: Patellectomy

yo , poor dude ya , lol..

I had 1 knee cap removed 30 years ago , and i feel as a result of 30 years hard physical laboour in all jobs ive done , that it has now damaged my hip , and lower back , as you say .. from the effect of walking lobsided.

All my stance is on one side , because of the instability of my knee. From looking round on the web though , there seems to be little imformation about the pssible long term effects of patellectomy on other parts of your body , of which you and me know there is : )
