Lateral Release Knee Surgery

Hi. I had a scope and lateral release done on my left knee last September. I had to wear the knee immobilizer for 2 weeks after the surgery. The surgery was outpatient. There is pain after the surgery, but for me, it was a different kind of pain than the pain before surgery. It was less intense. The total recovery time for me was 5 months, but I developed bursitis in my knee during the recovery process.

I have also developed the same issue of kneecap subluxation in my right knee along with a ligament issue and meniscal changes, so I may be facing surgery again. The subluxation doesn't seem as pronounced this time, but the surgeon figures that it is only a matter of time.

I had a lateral release on my right knee several years ago. My recovery time was long. The surgery was outpatient and I did my own PT at home. My knee is fine now. Good luck to you.
