Twinge feeling in back of knee - no pain!

For about two years I have been getting a twinge feeling behind my knee. I stand a lot in my kitchen while I decorate cakes, and this is when I started to notice it.

It feels like the ligament or something is popping or moving and causing a weird feeling. It's in the back of my left knee, on the outer side.

Lately, my ankle has been hurting and I am wondering if this is related to my knee problem.

I am not a runner, but need to lose weight, which I am working on (lost 15 lbs.) I don't have knee pain, but my ankle is now very sore and I wear an ankle brace.

I don't know what kind of doctor to see for this? Orto doc? Physical therapist? Foot doc?

Can anyone relate or offer advice?
