    Red face temperature after TKR

I had a TKR 3/11. Is it normal to have a temperature after this type of surgery. The orthopedist says all labs look good. No swelling or redness of the knee.

    Re: temperature after TKR

A low grade fever is common after many types of surgeries. The surgery is an "invasion" into your body and your immune system is adjusting to the knee, sutures, etc. This response results in a fever.

I've always been told, after every surgery, having 101 degrees or higher for 24 hours or more requires the doctor to evaluate. That can be a sign of infection.
