Knee Pain

Hey, about a week ago I tripped and fell at work and landed directly on my right knee. Needless to say it was very painful and continued to be painful for the next few days (like normal). A bruise was developing so I iced it on and off (20 on and about 20 off) for the next two days following the accident. Now a week later, the bruise has gone down significantly but the pain is still there. More specifically it hurts to bend my knee more than 90 degrees and when I try it hurts and I feel a tingling sensation around my knee, this same sensation happens when I touch the center of my knee cap and also hurts. I just want to know if this is normal.

Re: Knee Pain

There are fluid-filled sacs called bursas in front of and behind the kneecap. I would imagine that the fall irritated one of them.

Keep icing at least twice a day. Don't do anything too demanding on that knee, although light exercise that does not cause pain is good. If it gets worse again, or doesn't seem to be improving, see a doctor.

Oh, since this happened at work, you might want to tell your supervisor and get it documented, just in case you do require medical attention at some point.
