total knee replacement

I have been recomended to have 'total knee replaceement' but has I have always been very active ** long distance walking, caveing, scuba diving and gardening} and still do not use a stick to walk with at the moment. I have ben told to expect not o be able to kneel ever! after surgery, and also that I will no longer be able to bend my leg more than 90degs which I can do at the moment but with painfull difficulty.I have been warned to expect it will take me at least three months to be able to walk any distance in comfort, but from there on I will be painfree. Please is there anyone out there that can say to me that they have even regained any of their fitness that they have lost! My problem is just wear and tear 'old age'
