    Lasik eye surgery after 50

I had custom LASIK eye surgery one month ago. My correction was -4.50 left eye, -3.00 right eye with astigmatism (right only) before the surgery. I wore glasses and contact lenses.
The day after the surgery, I had good distance vision and was able to drive to the follow up appointment. My close up vision was blurry however. The doctor
told me my distance and close-up vision should improve over time.
After one month, my outside vision is not bad. I can see better than 20/20 left eye and a bit worse than 20/20 right eye. I can read without glasses when I am outside, but not that well.
The problem is with my inside vision. While I can see pretty well 6 feet away and beyond, I cannot see well up close. I was expecting my vision would be about the same as my vision was while wearing my contact lenses, but it is much worse. I did need low power reading glasses when I was wearing my contact lenses. I am now wearing reading glasses (-2.00) to see up close but I need to wear them to see anything up close clearly.
I was warned before the surgery by the doctor that I would need to wear glasses for reading and computer work. I hope it improves some since I am only one month post surgery. I guess I should be satisfied that I no longer need to wear glasses or contact lenses for distance, but I prefer my old vision.
If anyone has had a similar experience with LASIK surgery and has any ideas for me such as glasses with progressive lenses or contact lenses for close up vision, I would appreciate it.
