Wavefront Guided Lasik results

I had the Wavefront Guided Lasik performed two days ago So far I am very happy with my results.

Prior to Lasik my uncorrected eyesight was 20/150, with eyeglass correction I saw 20/20. I had allowed myself moderately low expectations going into this procedure. My goal was to be able to drive and generally function without glasses. I would be fine if I have to use glasses to read, use a computer or to see 20/20.

I spent the day before surgery reading through every negative thread I could find here for a reason to not get the procedure. Frankly, going legally blind is the one risk factor that would have dissuaded me...but I did not find numerous threads here with such results. Dry eye and less than perfect results were both complications I could live with.

I was farsighted with astigmatism and had a dominant right eye. My pre-surgery eyeglass prescription was as follows:

Post-surgery I tested 20/40 in each eye individually and 20/25 with both eyes. Two days later and thanks to another thread here that highlighted the impact eye drops can have, I can test consistently at 20/20 vision with fresh eye drops in and at 20/40 with dry eyes. I hope that my eyes get better with time in terms of staying lubricated, but I will discuss plugs and other options at my 30 day check up.

I do see halos around headlights and bright lights, but they are equivalent to what I saw through my scratched up glasses before surgery. I have no issues with night driving (the halos are minimal). I would like to see these decrease, but wouldn't be heart broken if they stay at their current level.

I wanted to post my experience and say thank you to everyone here for sharing yours. I will use this thread to update my progress and results.

Update four days after surgery:

This morning I could read the street sign across the street clearly for the first time while taking my dog out.
I have used all 70 of the preservative free Refresh Plus vials that I initially purchased..LOL. I have pretty much used them every 10-15 minutes since my surgery, especially when sitting in front of the computer. It eliminates any straining to see the computer clearly and it makes me feel like I'm helping my eyes.... For the record, my eyes haven't really felt dry, but the drops improve my vision. Bought more drops yesterday and I am going to continue to use them liberally.
I began taking one fish oil caplet per morning and one flax seed oil caplet each night. Don't know that this will do squat, but since my lubricated eyes see 20/20 still I am going to do my best to keep them lubricated.
Bought a sonic humidifier. I let it run while I sleep and it has prevented me from waking up with dry eyes in the morning.
Halos have minimized a lot. I can barely see them now, but they are still barely present. My night driving is the best it has been in 8 years, this is due to my old glasses being eight years old and extremely scratched (this created halos when wearing them).
My eyes have lasted longer each day before feeling strained. Yesterday I used my computer a lot, and my eyes felt very tired around 7pm. When my eyes become strained I have either tried to take a nap or just relaxed them while listening to the TV.
The first two days I had the 'new prescription' feeling that I have experienced in the past every time I got new glasses. Somewhat disoriented and I get a headache due to eyestrain that requires Tylenol. Yesterday I felt like I finally became used to my Lasik view and driving was 10x more comfortable due to my increased vision comfort.
A big plus for me is my improved peripheral vision. My old glasses were essentially two pieces of smaller glass, two ear pieces and a bridge. They looked stylish, but I could see beyond the top, bottom and sides (blurry).

I am excited about the improvement and I am anxious for my eyes to continue healing and be able to have less and less eye strain. Huzzah for Wavefront Lasik

Congrats on your great results! It's so good to hear people who are happy with the procedure, since mostly people whom have had negative experiences are the most vocal.

I had Wavefront LASIK done two months ago. I, too, tried to maintain modest expectations. I'm THRILLED though. My vision went from 20/800 to 20/15. I hardly use eye drops at all, now, but forced myself to use them initially post-op, though my eyes didn't feel dry at all. I don't have any side effects, not even halos.

Congrats again, and good luck with continued even better vision as your corneas fully heal.

UPDATE!!

I started this thread right after my surgery and wanted to update on how things are going. I am now 10 months post surgery.

Overall I am very happy and my sight is 20/40 on my worst days. A bad day for me is usually just because of dry eyes, but I am no longer carrying around eye drops at all times (like I did for the first 7 months). I do have minor fluctuation in my eyesight still, but nothing like it was the first six months.

With glasses for correction I saw 20/20. On a good day my eyesight is around 20/25. My eyesight has never been as sharp as it was with glasses, but the convenience has outweighed the difference.

One scare in this whole process was my eyesight deterioration when using computers. I like to surf the internet and up to five months after surgery I really had to limit my time spent reading a computer screen. My eyes would tire and get to the point that I was pushing Ctrl + to make text bigger so I could read it. At three months I could only spend about 1-2 hours reading a computer screen before my eyes were fatigued and needed to rest. Once I passed the eight month mark I could browse the net all day long, read an e-book on an android phone and do anything else without any eye fatigue.

Overall I am very happy with the result. I am able to drive at night with no issues. I don't see any halos around lights. I can see moderately well at a distance and I can see excellent up close (which was the most important to me).

Although I would recommend this procedure to other glasses/contacts wearers. If my eyesight deteriorated I would not have the procedure redone due to not wanting to redo the loooong healing process, once was enough.

Yea, how can we trust people and these "doctors" when lasik is not what they say, all is good, in a month etc. Cornea heals extremely faster, but what we need to wait 6 + months for everything to stabilize, 6 months or a years is not a problem if surgery is performed on some other part of body, but when you get fluctuations with eyes, can't do some things you could have done before for a long time, extremely frustrating. I like playing games, watching movies, but i hadn't done that for 6 months because of this problem with contrast sensitivity after lasik, didn't know how it could become boring if these are stuff you love.

Anyway, so you have done enhancment of wavefront guided? I think they did t me wavefront optimized, that was when i was confused about it, i thought wavefront is individual eye scans, but it is if it is custom not optimized. So i don't get it, why would they go with optimized, not offer me custom if it can get better results and eliminate other abberations. Is there a downsied for custom guided? for big prescriptions, more tissue removal?
