    Lasik Questions

I recently had lasik done , i have seemed to lose majority of my near sight ( a good 1ft-5ft range ) its extremely hard for me to read the computer , the doctor said most people will need readers after because of age , im 20 years old and he said i would'nt until later years , i am not normally impatient but this vision is really aggravating me. Does anyone have any information about my age range and lasik, by the way my far sight vision before lasik was terrible. sorry if this post is unorganized or has typos i can't really see what im typing.

    Hi

    I do!

Nearsight is damaged by the lasik suction ring. It returns when the muscles repair themselves. Took 4-6 weeks for me. Might be faster for you.

Sometimes there is an initial overcorrection that will subside over time.

Both contribute. How long ago did you have it done?

Did you do both eyes at same time?

Usually they wait from one eye to the next.

As you age you will need reading glasses.

    Best of luck...

I was told that these symptoms were a side effect of surgery but should go away eventually. It's always a good idea to call your surgeon and let him know what's going on.

    Re: Lasik Questions

I had exactly the same experience - at the one week checkup, my optometrist said to get a cheap pair of +1 reading glasses. They made a huge difference, for about a month; by two months they were pointless, because my eyes' accommodating muscles had recovered fully. (I'd been -10 originally, once the healing was done I ended up -1 and -3.)
