I was worried about you debbie..it sounds like your liver is normal and no cirrhosis..you should be happy..you give us all hope.. but still let us know what the doc says..Lisa

Debbie, glad to hear it's not cirrhosis. Can you tell me if the biopsy hurt? Did you have to take time off of work? My Dr. said if my levels don't come down then I will need a biopsy. I DON"T want to do it! I'm scared of the pain because my previous Dr. said it would hurt like H**L! What do they do to you and how long does the procedure take? Pain afterwards? I'm so afraid to have it done that I don't want to go back and get my labwork done thinking maybe my enzymes won't be down.

giddyup be careful there are risks to biopsys..they can lacerate your liver which is not good. If I were you I would get a second opinion go to another GI specialist first. My GI man said that would be the last resort for me to have one..My liver functions are all normal the only thing that were up were the liver enzymes and then they are normal after taking milk thistle for 6 months..I take it every day 3 times a day..good luck to all of us..Let us know what's up Debbie..Lisa

I got the results from my biopsy today from my GI specialist. THEY WERE ALL NORMAL!!!11 I am so happy about that. Regarding the biopsy itself. The pain was minimal. When I checked in, I had an IV in my hand for the "amnesiac" and for pain medication. Then I was put into an ultrasound room and they gave me some lidocaine to numb the area where the needle would go in. They then put in a guide tube - that was a little uncomfortable, but only for a second. I did not actually feel the biopsy needle at all. I was then returned to the recovery room for a few hours. I had absolutely no pain after the procedure was over and continue to have none. Was it as bad as I thought it would be? NOT AT ALL. Check out your doctor to make sure he has done these before. I had excellent doctors and nurses. Good Luck!!!

Moxie? I have a question for you. I bought some milk thistle and started taking it. At first nothing much happened. Then after a few days, I had so much pain in my liver area I quit taking it. So I stopped. Then a week later started it again. Then the pain started up again. I remember my last Dr. telling me that to start healing my liver it will hurt. Did you have pain with taking milk thistle? Is the pain I'm feeling "good" pain due to my liver going back to normal? It's been enlarged for years. So, is that what I am feeling? Should I just bear the pain of it all and keep on taking milk thistle?

giddyup..yes in fact i was out of it for about a week when i started taking it again i had sharp pains but they did not last and now once again the pain is gone and i only sometimes not every day have a dull ache..i also tried that liver cleanse it's a 3 step process and i had pain with that at first too..i excercise alot and when i do abs it hurts more on the right side..i'm not sure about it hurting when it's healing i never heard that all I know is my liver enzymes are normal again..Lisa
