    Gamma-gt test (how accurate?)

I hope someone can give me some advice, reasurence or just general info.
I posted a month or so back but had no replies.

I had some blood test done in Dec/Jan, Gamma-gt was normal but the FBC indicated I had slightly enlarged red blood cells.

I have now been back for more tests and I am awaiting the results.

I heard or read that the gamma-gt test is very sensative, so if there was something amiss last time would I have had high readings ?
I mean how accurate is it, if I had a liver dissorder would it not at least show slightly high readings ?

Could the fact I had been taking milk thistle have affected the results if there was something wrong ?

I have almost stopped drinking alltogether through the week now, but do have a session at the weekend when we go for a meal, and I probably do overdo it !

Again I hope someone can be of help to me with the above concerns

    Thanks in advance

    Re: Gamma-gt test (how accurate?)

I have had 2 of my results back, The gamma-gt & FBC which were both normal.

My gamma-gt reading was 22 but the FBC was a number of different results and because I phoned, I didn't want to harrass the receptionist by asking her to read them all out over the phone. I just said "it's "normal" though?" and she said "yes"

I am awaiting 1 more result which is B12 RBC FOLATE test and I should get that within the next 2 weeks, what is this test looking for & what does it indicate if the results are not "normal" ?

    Please help
