Seeping wound/back pain

My liver resection was over one month ago, yet at the corner of the incision I still leak small amounts of fluid. Also I still have some lower back pain. Has anyone else "leaked" from a wound that long? and have some lower back pain?

Re: Seeping wound/back pain

have you spoken with your surgeon about this? what you are experiencing,in most cases would indicate some actual level of infection or actual imflammation going on inside there somethere. a wound that is leaking/oozing,just will not close up on its own til things inside get better. this one i do know from my own experience.

just what does that fluid look like? is it clear, yellow or greenish? does it give off any type of odor to it? at any rate, calling your surgeon REALLY is the best thing for you to do right now, they too would want to know why your incision is still weeping something. i really do think that by this time,it should be all closed up and just healing too. just make that call. please keep me posted on what you find out,K? good luck withthis,Marcia

Re: Seeping wound/back pain

Hi marcia,
Right at the end of the incision there is this perfect little tiny round hole,no redness or fever, and it is a very light yellow to clear liquid that comes out. My surgeon knew about it when I left the hospital on December 21st (actually my initial surgery was Nov. 25th and went back in for a new drainage tube) and he did not seem concerned. Actually at that time the seepage could run out. At least now it is slowing down to a few drops a day. I will call my physician. Yesterday I took my last dose of antibiotic for my friend MRSA. I don't think there is an odor, but I feel like I have that tinge of hospital odor (that is really hard to explain). I still am finding little spots with adhesive left on me! I will let you know what doc thinks- Thanks!

Re: Seeping wound/back pain

Hi Marcia,
I am happy to say that my wound finally closed up. I did alot of activity today and there was not one spot of fluid! Also my lower back pain has subsided alot, maybe because I am moving around more.
Thanks,
Kathryn
