Pancreatitis symptoms, but not pancreatitis. Sphincter of Oddi dysfunction?
Hi,
I have some questions regarding as to what my husband might suffer from. Doctors have not been able to find out and seem to have given up.
Some/most of symptoms are similar to those of chronic pancreatitis - but he does not have chronic pancreatitis. He has had ongoing tests for this for a year and half.
He does not drink, never has. He never took any medication until a couple of years ago (he's now on insulin).
One person mentioned Sphincter of Oddi dysfunction to me as a possibility. Don't know much about this illness.
My husband's symptoms:
-severe back/chest pain (inside the ribcage). These pains come and go. Can persist for days/weeks and be anything from medium to severe (severity varies). He can also be ok for a while, with not pain.
-he has secondary diabetes which was discovered two years ago and is now on insulin. Cause for this is not known.
-he has pancreatic cysts. When one is removed a new one comes. Cause not known.
-he had severe acute pancreatitis two years ago, but his inflammation levels have been normal ever since. The cause was never discovered
-he gets diarrhea easily and often bleeds when using the bathroom. Whenever I put my head to his stomach it sounds like there's a waterfall going on in there - this sound is constant
Does any of you have an idea of what he might have? It's possible it's several of different things
