    Had my liver biopsy today

Piece of cake. The hospital where I had it done had the most amazing staff. I've had all my surgeries and other procedures there and never had a problem. The nurses I had were great and the one that did my IV didn't leave a mark or bruise it like in the past. He's been a nurse for over 30 years.

I arrived at 8:30 and was brought to the unit at 9. I had to wait about an hour before they started anything like the IV because the doctor was running behind. I was scheduled to have it at 10 but it wasn't until 11:10 before I was taking to the procedure room. I had a CT guided biopsy. They made me comfy on the small narrow table and took the scans. Then the nurse marked me and gave me some fentanyl and versed. After that it's pretty much a blur but I remember joking around with the nurses. I told them I felt like the one girl in 16 candles who took all the valium before her wedding. I vaguely remember the actual biopsy-I think he took 3 samples but can't be sure. He didn't do it in my side-it was in the middle of my upper abdomen on the left side of my liver. Before i knew it they were saying they were all done and I was on my way back to recover. Since I had the biopsy in my upper abdomen I didn't have to lie on my back or side for an hour or two. The whole process was about 45 minutes but it seemed like only a few. It went by so fast.

I have a small bandage over the site and it's a little bruised. I had a little twinge of pain when I got home but that's it. I was anxious about this since I scheduled it and have to say it wasn't bad at all. I actually had a pleasant experience. I think that's mainly because of a wonderful staff and having a doctor who knew what he was doing. Next time I need one if I ever do I know what to expect.

Now I wait for the results.

I am so glad to hear it was a pleasant experience for you. I have one tomorrow morning and I an very very nervous. I just want it to be done so I can relax....oh but then I will still be a nervous wreck waiting for the results. Did you get your results yet?
