hi guys, so my health anxiety mind is at it again.

my mom has been complaining of a cough and chest discomfort for a few weeks now. she claims that the chest discomfort is a bit better. i asked her what the discomfort felt like and she said it almost feels like "chest congestion" discomfort but she has no symptoms of a cold whatsoever. no runny nose, no congestion nothing but a dry cough. she is not worried about it at all and says it will go away but i am so scared it could be lung cancer. you guys know how i feel right now; i am consumed by this and i am not sleeping or eating and i feel horrible. i decided yesterday to stop asking her a million questions because i think i am both annoying her and maybe even scaring her a bit but maybe i should just let it go. i work at a hospital and spoke to a great guy i know who happens to be a pulmonary specialist and he says that 90% of patients he sees that come to him for cough, 90% are benign causes. I guess i feel a bit better but i can't shake this off. i am just so scared she could have lung cancer. any experiences here with anyone having a persistent cough that turned out to be nothing???
