Carbocisteine and Acetylcisteine are the two main mucus thinners that I have on prescription, I had to fight to get them, but they work really well to thin the mucus.
Prior to taking these, a Paramedic told my 14 yr old son that if he had arrived a minute later, I would have died from, basically, suffocation.
My GP thinks that I'm a neurotic hypochondriac purely because he hasn't seen me having a severe attack.
