What could be causing my chest pain and cough?

Quick overview: I had the flu at the end of November 2012, and then was diagnosed with pneumonia in the first week of December and was given two rounds of antibiotics for the bacteria. It's now been about 6 weeks, and I can't seem to get rid of this cough and chest pain, even though the pneumonia appears to have been taken care of. I get very easily winded by even taking a flight of stairs, and my cough is constant throughout the day. My chest feels very tight and it's painful to breathe in too deeply. My cough worsens when I lay down and becomes very deep (it feels like my entire chest is rattling) and causes more sputum to be expelled.

My primary care doctor just referred me to a pulmonary specialist. Does anyone have any idea of what may be going on and/or what to expect when I see this new doctor?

The pneumonia did not seem to be finished IMO.

Before the transfert, does he did some xray ?

The pneumologist will, IMO, make you pass other xray (or ct scan to find maybe pneumonitis if you got normal xray before he see you) and pulmanary function test.

If liquid in the lung is seen on the xray, that will show a pneunonia, and they check to be sure your hearth size look good. If not they will tell you it's a pulmanary edema. (you should be ok as they transfered you to a pulmonary's specialist)
