ANA was 1:256 not 257 will explain

I have my lab results in front me; this lab apparently does the titer different than most (FBR - Foundation for blood reseach ). Anyway, it goes 0, 1:2, 1:4, 1:8, 1:16, 1:32, 1:64, 1:126, 1:256, 1:512, 1:1024, 1:2048, etc.
& mine was 1:256 homogenous pattern also 1:32 nuclear dots; does anyone know what nuc dots are??? Would this titer be considered low; my doc said I was borderline. The joint pain WAS NOT borderline. I feel good today though; first time in about 6 weeks Thanks for the information; after reading reply I had to immediately check my lab results; the thought of maybe 2560 did SCARE me Any information would be great. Anyway, it goes 0, 1:2, 1:4, 1:8, 1:16, 1:32, 1:64, 1:126, 1:256, 1:512, 1:1024, 1:2048, etc.

What titre do they say is normal? I still think it's the same as the other labs, they just leave the zero off the end, I have seen this before. The bottom line is how many times they had to dilute it, and they still had to do yours 8 times, I still think that is high.

Does it says Nuclear or nucleolar?

I found your post interesting; I lived in Maine for two years, and had my ANA checked while a patient in one of the hospitals near Portland. It was 1:256, also; it's the first (and only) time I've ever seen it not reported in the 1:80, 1:160, etc., way. I don't think it's because they left a zero off the end; I asked that question of them, and they said no, it's 1:256(??). Anyway, I don't have any info to add, just that observation. Have a good day!
