Malar rash?

Hi everyone. I'm currently waiting for blood work to come back to explore the possibility of Lupus. Now, I've developed a rash across my face that has me wondering. It is slightly raised, warm, light pink and a little itchy. It swaths across both of my cheeks, but the bridge of my nose seems unaffected. I'd post a photo, but I can't figure out how to do that :-/ Does this sound like it could be a malar rash? It's been there for about two days...

Re: Malar rash?

Tired,
Take a picture so your doctor can see, usually these things tend to disappear right before a big appointment. malar rashes you see of pictures online tend to be full and bright, but malar rashes can be partial, light, flat or raised. They tend not to be painful, but Ive seen some people complain about them burny or itchy or tingly.

Malar rash can be very variable, and hard to differentiate from other rashes. One big clue it is potentially malar is it doesnt affect the nasalabial folds. However sometimes even rheumatologists & dermatologists have a hard time pegging a rash as malar or other.

Re: Malar rash?

Over the years Iíve noticed a redness that comes and goes across the bridge of my nose and onto my cheeks slightly. It looks and feels like sunburn. I can feel the heat from it. I use moisturizer ever night so I know itís not dryness. I also avoid the sun as much as possible due to my fair skin and freckles and if I go in the sun Iím wearing 100 proof sunblock. I always contributed this redness to anxiety or stress, but with all my weird health issues that come and go undiagnosed Iím starting to wonder if itís not. My Doctor (nurse practitioner) did do an ANA blood test a few months back, but it was negative? She said it was hard to tell if I had any skin issues do to my freckles. I wish I could upload a photo to get someoneís opinion. Do to unknown partial lung collapse i get to see a pulmonologist who is getting all my medical records together. Iím hoping he can piece everything together to get a diagnosis.
