6 year old with Lyme - what supplements??

My six year old was diagnosed with Lyme and mitral valve prolapse. He is on Amox for four weeks.

I've been fixated on the heart issue, but I realize I need to really attack this Lyme.

Can someone provide me with some suggestions of supplements he should be taking in addition to the probiotic.
Also, can you explain the detox process that I'm reading about?

I think this was caught early. He has neck pain for a week, which went away, then he had first degree heart block which is how we found the Lyme. Neck went away before figuring out it was Lyme.

    Thank you!!

    Hi,

So very sorry to hear of your son's condition. Have you read the stickies at the top of this board? There is a lot of information there that may be helpful.

Are you saying your son wasn't born with the mitral valve problem? If so, this could be due the lyme.

Are you seeing a pediatric LLMD (lyme literate medical doc)? If not, this is who needs to treat your son. No other specialist can diagnose or treat lyme effectively. For instance, 4 weeks of abx is not nearly enough. He also needs to be tested for co-infections and best that his blood is sent to Igenex Lab in Palo Alto, CA.

About Detoxing. When the spirochetes die they release toxins that can affect us in many ways. This is called die-off. There are many vitamins, herbals and such that can help with whatever symptoms are manifesting due to this process. I'm not sure what would be appropriate for a 6 year old, maybe the same potions but in reduced or diluted amounts or put into honey. Here are some suggestions:

    -Vitamin C is essential
-Oil of Oregano can be diluted down
-Magnesium or epsom salt baths are good for pain

I'm sure there are many others, but I can't think of them right now. There must be books available for pediatric lyme disease that would include detoxing info. This book has a great detox section also: The Salt/Cplus Protocol for Lyme Disease by M. Fett

Please let us know how it goes and, of course, I wish you all the best with this.

    Tess

Also: Alternative therapies might be a better choice for a child or alternative combined with abx.

So sorry to hear about your son's conditions.

My son has a complete (third degree) heart block and the doctors are investigating whether he has Lyme passed congenitally from me.

If that's the case, there is a chance that the right (long) course of antibiotics can reverse his heart block.

Please PLEASE go to a Lyme Specialist about your son, as his heart condition may be able to be reversed with antibiotics also. Especially as you think it was a recent infection.

    Thoughts are with you!
