    Lyme Disease and Hormone Imbalance?

    Hi there,

I have just had some hormone test results back showing highly abnormal levels of Sex Hormone Binding Globulin (SHBG) and virtually non-existent Progesterone.

I'm also awaiting the results of my Lyme Disease tests - could my hormone imbalance be linked to Lyme?

    Thanks

Re: Lyme Disease and Hormone Imbalance?

In a word "Yes". Lyme can, and often does, affect every system of the body. As symptoms arise people often rush from one specialist to another. If you do have lyme, which is diagnosed first by clinical symptoms, not tests, then treating it aggressively with an LLMD (lyme literate medical doctor) should address other symptoms as well. An LLMD will be able to advise about your particular situation.

We often hear from people abroad that it is difficult to find an LLMD. If this is the case, a good Naturopath, who is savvy about LD, would be a better choice than an ID or other type of doctor.

Wishing you the best with figuring this out.

    Tess
