Lyme disease, blood test came back 'unknown'

Hello, I am suffering from a lot of symptoms associated with Lyme disease. About 15 years ago , after a camping trip in Wisconsin, I developed the bullseye rash. I did not know anything about Lyme disease back then!
I recently talked to my doctor who sent me for a blood test. I received my results today and the receptionist told me they came back 'unknown' ? I don't know what this means!! Do I or don't I have Lyme disease?! She told me to call the doctor tomorrow but in the meantime can anyone offer any info? Thanks in advance!

Totally ignore the test - you need to get test done from Igenix in California - all other tests are at least 60% false negative GET TESTED and find yourself a Lyme literate doctor

Lyme is one of those tests which can be a false postive or a false negative...it can also be "i dont know"..unfortuanately, Lyme tests are hard to define.
Igenex is a lab which is owned by a group of doctors and has been known to be more exact than a regular lab if you want to send your blood there. .. your doctor can do it for you. They do not accept all insurances so you want to look into that before you send it.

Lots of false negatives, not false positives. If you're positive you're positive. Your supposed "unknown", especially with having had a bulls eye rash would be regarded by most as "positive" but lyme is diagnosed primarily by clinical symptoms, tests secondarily.

You need to see an LLMD . Your symptoms will only worsen throughout the years without treatment, but that treatment needs to be with a lyme disease specialist, not your primary, not an ID doc nor any other type of "specialist". This is the biggest mistake that "lymies" make - submitting to care from these docs who know nothing about proper testing, diagnosing or treatment of lyme disease. Think about it. You wouldn't go to a GI doc for a broken leg. You wouldn't go to an orthopedic doc for an ulcer!

I hope you can find the care you need soon. If you haven't already, please take a look at the stickies at the top of this board.
