Lyme causing vision problems or twitching

Just curious how many out there w/lyme are having vision problems? I constantly (at least once a day) get a blurred haze coming over my eye, and it seems that sometimes my eyes are just hazy when i first wake up. Also I've notice small muscle spasms in random parts of my body. If i hold my index finger up it starts shaking, it seems like i'm starting to get nerve tremors or shakes now as well, anybody else get this?

    thanks

Re: Lyme causing vision problems or twitching

    Dear trust1,

I have had the vision problems also but just in the left eye. My primary care doctor gave me valtrex a few years ago thinking maybe I was fighting a virus because we didn't even think lyme. I had a severe reaction to it and lost the vision in that eye. The neurologist and opthamologist doused me with 1000mg steroids (IV) for 4 days to help clear this up and tried to convince me it was MS. I don't have MS, I have lyme. The vision got a little better in that eye but will never be the same as the other eye. I'm sure this was just a one in a million chance that you would have a reaction to this drug but I guess I was the millionth one. Unfortunately it really made the lyme go crazy because they were suppressing my immune system, a real nono for lyme patients.

The muscle twitching is pretty much a lyme thing too. Mine is just in one leg or the other at any given time. It stopped after the Rocephin IV but came back when I went on orals. One of our fellow threaders says this is from lack of magnesium. I have been much better since I started taking magnesium each day but think I have overdone it because I'm also doing detox baths with epsom salt which contains magnesium. I guess on the days I am going to do the baths I will forego the pill. It may just be coincidence but the twitching drove me crazy last night after the bath.

Supposedly these things will go away when the lyme does so we just have to deal with it as best we can. Good luck in your healing.

i have floaters now from the hemmorage and my retina is swollen, just left eye as well....i was on doxy for 10 days and 2 weeks later i saw a retina specialist for a checkup...she said first time she saw the swelling in my retina slightly smaller then it usually is, could be a coincidence maybe not though....just had 2 ELISA test both negative....if i want igenex testing its not an actual test thats just the company that does thes testing? what should i tell my doc for testing that i want done that will go through igenex? is there a special name?

    thanks

Me too. Lots of floaters, large optic nerve and dry eyes. The doctor freaks out about my optic nerve every year at my annual exam and makes me take all kinds of miserable tests for glaucoma and then tells me I don't have glaucoma and she doesn't know why my eyes are like that. We've been doing that for years, but now I have been on treatment for lyme things are getting better. Wish I knew, but hindsight is 20/20, LOL.

yes, my first eye doc guessed lyme right away, but I still get negative on ELISA test that i've taken (2). I have swollen optic nerve as well, dry eyes too mainly in morning...doc did tear test and i have more then enough to keep my eyes lubricated...=\

Since Jan. of this year, when I noticed recurrence of other Lyme Symptoms, I'm getting the "small muscle spasms in random parts of my body" too, and hope to have it checked out late this month. A friend who has advanced chronic Lyme also confirmed he gets the twitching/spasming. No tremors, just extreme jolts of the arm, leg, finger, neck, head, torso. Random, no pattern, not continuous.

Of course, I'm in perimenopause too, which could throw everything off kilter I'm told!
