    Predisone.... for asthma induced bronchitis

Can I take this with antibiotics??? i know steriods are a big NO NO for lyme.... I don;t think I have a choice though??? I had bronchitis 3 weeks ago and now I have induced asthma and I can't get any relief with breathing with albuterol or any other inhalers..... argh!!! I will call my LLMD to check.... my GP knows what I am on for lyme so I assume its safe with minocycline.... but geez!!! whats next for me!!! Asthma sucks!

Hi fotomom. What dose did they recommend for you?

    20mg 2 times a day for 7 days.....

I have phone calls into both my LLMD and my GP about this... so far I have only taken mino in the morning and the predisone at night, so I halfed the dose just to get something in my system.... my cough is now getting better and I am not wheezing as much as I was in the last week today.....

That's a sizeable dose I think, but it sounds like it's temporary, right? You are just trying to get through a rough time? If it's temporary I wouldn't worry too much about it. If it's something you need to do long term, I would tweak the dose down as much as possible to see what is the lowest dose you can take and still get results.

I take prednisone, but only 5mg 2x a day. It's not enough to create any problems and helps me quite a bit in other ways.

I have a friend who has lyme and she takes prednisone for a rare lung condition. She takes 100mg a day and she cannot come off it or she'll be unable to breath at all. She just does not have a choice, lyme or no lyme she has to take high doses of prednisone. So I guess you do what you have to do and pray for good results. Breathing is a necessity, what else can you do?
