For those of you that have not read my other posts, I got bit by a tick over a year ago on the fourth of July while pregnant. I was on antibiotic therapy while pregnant and nursing and then moved back to KS. I quit taking antibiotics after being (what I thought was) symptom free for almost 4 or 5 months. (I was unaware at the time that I had babesia brewing in my system and still had Lyme lurking in my body. Anyway, my husband started taking a dietary supplement, Xantrex-3 and I thought I'd try it since it worked for him. I am not a big fan of those kinds of pills, but I thought I'd give the pills a try since I didn't lose weight after the fourth baby and having Lyme. A few days after I started taking the pills my pain came on, like the worst Herx I ever had. I know the pills contain lots of caffeine or caffeine-like stimulants, but I'm a coffee drinker (I know that is bad!) and caffeine won't cause a herx. I was thinking about things today and it hit me why I herxed. Lyme loves fat cells and loves to hide in them. My theory is that as the Xantrex-3 was killing or burning loads of fat cells...it was also killing a bunch of spirochetes. Of course, as the spirochetes were dying and breaking open...all of their toxins were shocking my system, causing a major herx. I was actually losing weight too! Has anyone ever tried taking diet pills and had this happen? (Like I said, I am not a big fan of pills like these, but I wanted to see if anyone else has ever experienced such a thing.) Had I known I was still sick, I never would have taken them, but I did find this interesting. Oh, has anyone ever taken Artemisinin? I am curious to know if it really helps kill the Babesia microti protozoan. I am anxious to ask my Lyme doctor if it will help. Please let me know what you think!

P.S. Another Lyme patient in my area takes a shake called Reliv and claims that it has increased her energy level and that her pain is not as bad. Has anyone ever heard of this?
