Olive Leaf Extract

Hi every-one,

Hope everyone is well - or at least not too unwell.

Just a quick question for all the lyme experts.

I have read today that olive leaf extract can help with the fatigue symtoms associated with lyme. Has any-one tried it, and if so, did they find it useful?

Many, many thanks

Janet

Re: Olive Leaf Extract

Hi Janet,

I never read about Olive Leaf Extract and it's effects until you brought it up.

This is what I read about it:

The Original Olive Leaf Extract is, as the name implies, derived from the leaves of the olive tree. It is a source of many phytochemicals, primarily oleuropein 20%, which enzymes break down into elenolic acid.

The Original Olive Leaf Extract contains 500 mg per capsule standardized to 20% Oleuropein. Naringen and electrolytes are added to aid absorption. The inert ingredient is vegetable glycerin.

Olive Leaf Extract is an antibacterial, antiviral and antiparasitic substance.

Olive Leaf Extract is non-toxic.

However, a "die off" or Herxheimer's reaction may occur from killing too many pathogens too quickly. This is experienced as "flu-like" symptoms or allergic attacks which pass quickly leaving the patient feeling much better than before taking the extract.

Someone at risk for Herxheimer's should try a reduced dose at first, then work up.

Olive Leaf Extract may "inactivate antibiotics" and should not be taken with them.

I don't know if that helps. I ordered the Veggie Capsules that Takemylife talked about. They haven't arrived yet, so I can't tell you anything about that.

Have you tried taking the Aloe Master Drink? That helps me in many ways.

Hope that helps,
Denise

Re: Olive Leaf Extract

Thanks Denise,

Obviously not one to take with antibiotics then! So I had better wait to see whether my Dr suggests continuing with antibiotics or not.

I have tried the natural route as this was the method preferred by my Dr initially, but Samento nearly killed me. I know that die-off affects us all really badly, but honestly I was rushed to hospital and was saying goodbye to everyone. Don't want that experience again if I can help it.

Thanks for the help

Janet
