Hi twinofdar. Hows the motor city?

I'm in New Jersey so I cannot recommend anyone in your area. Hopefully someone will come along with someone for you.

Also, there is a sticky thread at the top of this board specifically for doctor recommendations. I hope you find one there that is close.

What was the first opinion you got? I saw many doctors before I was properly diagnosed. Waste of time and money and it put me through the ringer emotionally ... maybe I have this .... maybe I have that, etc.

Have you had your blood tested at Igenex labs in California? Have you been tested for co-infections?

I'm with the Fibroymyalgia and Fatigue Center in Troy, MI - went there for fatigue - had no idea it was Lyme. They took 19 vials of blood based on my 22 page survey and my hour long interview (Quest Diagnostics) and I was positive for band 41 but negative for all co-infections. They followed up withe the two Western Blots from Igenex and I do have Lyme. I want them to test for co-infections with Igenex and they say it's not needed. I really don't have the symptoms but just scared to death, ya know? It would just ease my mind.

Right now I'm on lots of supplements and they are building up my immune system (Overall I think it's a great place just want second opinion).

For they Lyme I am on at least 6 months of Doxy (200 mgs 2 x day) pulsing Flagyl one week on (the week I herx) , three weeks off, burbur for detox and will be starting Samento and Cumanda soon (tried last week but went too fast and got real sick - felt I had to stop and start over once I did my week of Flagyl) I will probabaly be on the Samento, Cumanda and Burbur for a year or two - I've researched some great results from these herbs.

Nice to meet you and glad you found us! This is a great board for knowledge and support. I only wish I had found this board when I first got sick with Lyme.

Anyway, I'm surprised and disappointed that this Center you are going to doesn't recommend that you get tested by IgeneX for coinfections as some coinfections must be treated before the Lyme itself, such as Babesiosis.

I did hear of a doctor in your area by the name of Dr. Michael Ledtke in Saginaw, MI. I personally don't know of anyone who see's him but it's worth making an app't just to see how he treats.

I also tried Samento (TAO free) and it didn't do much for me. I am so much better (have been for months) by following Dr. David Jernigan's protocol. No matter what treatment plan you choose, I think it's a good idea to get as many books on Lyme as education and understanding this disease is so important.
