Opinions needed..

I've been sick for the last 7 months and dr.'s are having a hard time figuering out what's causing my crazy symptoms. They now think I have lyme's disease. My bloodwork came back positive for lymes & I am still waiting for the results of the western blot. I wanted to post all my symptoms & was hoping someone with lymes could tell me if they have experienced the same. It started with extreme fatigue, and dull ache with a warm feeling in my lymph nodes under my arms, behind my knees & in the groin area, facial flushing, night sweats, heart palpitations I have a pain on the inside of my left arm that I originally thought was my lymph nodes but now it seems like it is a nerve... when I push on the nerve I get a pain down my arm and my whole arm goes numb. Just in the last 2 weeks I am having problems with my eyes, they are blood shot and they hurt. It seems to be worse in sunlight or bright rooms, it is affecting my vision. I am dizzy and I feel confused like my mind is cloudy. I am so sick of feeling like this, I feel like I'm going to lose my mind. Any help anyone can give me is greatly appreciated.

Re: Opinions needed..

Hi JENZEY, welcome to the board!

Below is a Lyme disease symptom list. You can have any combination of symptoms.

Unexplained fevers, sweats, chills, or flushing
Unexplained weight change--loss or gain
Fatigue, tiredness, poor stamina
Unexplained hair loss
Swollen glands
Sore throat
Testicular pain/pelvic pain
Unexplained menstrual irregularity
Unexplained milk production: breast pain
Irritable bladder or bladder dysfunction
Sexual dysfunction or loss of libido
Upset stomach
Change in bowel function-constipation, diarrhea
Chest pain or rib soreness
Shortness of breath, cough
Heart palpitations, pulse skips, heart block
Any history of a heart murmur or valve prolapse?
Joint pain or swelling
Stiffness of the joints, neck, or back
Muscle pain or cramps
Twitching of the face or other muscles
Neck creeks and cracks, neck stiffness, neck pain
Tingling, numbness, burning or stabbing sensations, shooting pains
Facial paralysis (Bell's Palsy)
Eyes/Vision: double, blurry, increased floaters, light sensitivity
Ears/Hearing: buzzing, ringing, ear pain, sound sensitivity
lncreased motion sickness, vertigo, poor balance
Lightheadedness, wooziness
Confusion, difficulty in thinking
Difficulty with concentration, reading
Forgetfulness, poor short term memory
Disorientation: getting lost, going to wrong places
Difficulty with speech or writing
Mood swings, irritability, depression
Disturbed sleep-too much, too little, early awakening
Exaggerated symptoms or worse hangover from alcohol

Besides Lyme disease, ticks can also transmit several serious co-infections: Babesiosis, Ehrlichiosis (HME & HGE), Bartonella, and Mycoplasma. Many people who have Lyme are co-infected, and it may affect treatment choice and progress. It is important to be tested for these by a Lyme reputable lab such as IgeneX in Palo Alto, CA. To me, your symptoms sound like they may be from Lyme, Babesiosis, and/or Bartonella.

It is very important to see a knowledgeable doctor. Many doctors do not understand tick-borne illnesses and under treat them. You have symptoms and a positive test. You need to be treated and tested for the co-infections. I know of two Lyme doctors in NJ: in Jackson and West Caldwell. Would you like one of their names?

It is also important to learn as much as possible. I recommend reading "Everything You Need To Know About Lyme Disease (2nd edition)" by Karen Vanderhoof-Forschner and Dr. Joseph Burrascano's treatment guidelines. He is one of the top Lyme doctors in the country and many Lyme doctors follow his treatment protocols.

Hang in there okay? With proper treatment, you can get better.

Re: Opinions needed..

Hi JENZEY and welcome. Fellow Jersey girl here.

Sorry to hear you are sick. I was also sick for almost a year with no answers. I saw many doctors and had loads of tests, but I still had no answer while my health got worse and worse.

I see Dr. E in Jackson. She's an awesome doctor. If thats not too far from you, you may want to contact her and set up an appointment.

I have the fatigue. I sleep for 10 hours and wake up groggy. Then around lunch time I need a nap.

I also had the cloudy brain, the short term memory loss and the dizziness.

There is hope - I started treatment last year and now I feel better. I'm not 100% where I used to be but I'm getting there.

I understand the frustration of being sick for a long time. It wears on you.

Hang in there. Peace and health to you.
