    alternative and natural treatments

I know a few people mentioned they are off antibiotics and have started alternative treatments. I have been reading a lot of articles where people had better success from alternative treatments than antibiotics. I know our bodies are all different, but I was wondering who had good success with alternative or natural treatment. I'm doing the antibiotics as the first step of treatment, but I'm strongly considering moving to an alternative treatment after I'm done with my course of antibiotics.

I've heard about Cat's Claw and a few other herbs and natural products. I've also heard of Dr. Jernigan's protocol, Salt-C protocol, and HBO therapy.

    Any thoughts?

Hi Cappy, I think it's great that you are looking into alternative treatments. Many of them can be taken along with antibiotics and I know that the alternative treatments have been a big help to me as I got off of the the antibiotics.

Here are some things you can look into:

    artemisinin
    andrographis
    polygonum cuspidatum (resveratrol)
RM-10 Ultra by Garden of Life
smilax a.k.a sarsaparilla (to relieve herx reactions)
    teasel
hydrogen peroxide IV (I do these, they work great)

There are others too. Check these out for now and see if you get any information that you might be able to use.

Good for you for looking into every option and studying these things for yourself. It's that kind of seeking that will get you well eventually. Don't give up.

Thanks Sleeperwoken! I will take a look at these. You're right, we need to be open minded about other treatments besides antibiotics. I think the key is to build our natural defenses back up in order to fight this disease.

    Thanks

cappy, I would like to suggest that you only try one new thing at a time and that you keep a written log of how you feel after taking something new. Don't be fearful, but definitely be educated. If something doesn't work out, don't let it hinder your search, just move on. Good luck, and let us know how it goes.

    Re: alternative and natural treatments

Breathing is a free alternative which you can try as well.
Do the following breathing exercises known as Yoga Pranayam.

Bhastrika - Take a long deep breath into the lungs(chest not tummy) via the nose and then completely breathe out through the nose.Upto 5 minutes daily.

Anulom Vilom - Deep Breath-in through left nostril keeping right nostril closed
then - Breath-out through right nostril keeping left nostril closed
then -Deep Breath-in through right nostril keeping left nostril closed
then - Breath-out through left nostril keeping right nostril closed
and repeat this cycle daily for 30 minutes maximum.
Tips : Breathe into lungs not into stomach. Do not hurry. Do it slowly. Rest whenever needed (in any pranayam). Can be done in sitting position, standing or lying in bed(if bed-bound).Keep tissues handy, as a lot of mucous from lungs will be coming through the nose.Do the pranayam before eating.Do 15 minutes initially and build up to the maximum time over a few days. Can be done twice a day.
You will feel the benefits within days.
There is always an alternative when you search.

    Re: alternative and natural treatments

From what I know, while some of the alternative remedies may help the disease, you need proper antibiotics to eradicate the spirochetes. As with many other diseases, some alternative remedies can be helpful, and others are downright dangerous. Consult with a LLMD before trying out something new,for safety's sake.

My LLMD uses herbs and some vitamin supplements to support one's system and help things along, but also uses some interesting antibiotic/other drug combinations as well.
