Has you son been diagnosed w/ Lyme? If not, my husband suffers from the same ailment and he does not have Lyme. With him it's a fungus that reoccurs and when he has an outbreak he treats it w/ an oral equivilant of Lamisil he gets from his GP.

I'm not sure if it's a symptom of Lyme or not...I'm pretty new to this myself. Are his nails yellow or brittle, are they thick w/ ridges in them? Can he peel a large strip of papery skin from his palms? If thats the case I'd say it's definately a fungus, my husbands been dealing w/ this since childhood.

This happens to my son whenever we travel to places with different water than ours at home. If the water in the shower or bath has a lot of sulphur in it, or sulpha, then his skin peels really bad. It's not just one layer, it's like thick sheets of skin, especially on his hands and feet in between his toes and fingers. Sometimes there are cracks and bleeding, it looks like his toes are going to pop off because the splits come under his toes very deep.

I think he is allergic to sulphur. As soon as we come home to our own water, it goes away.

hi 3love, i'm waiting for my igenex test results so I do not want to worry you but the palms of my hands peel. They are not dry or cracked. They don't hurt. It's just a peeling in the center of the palms. mc
ps. infectious disease doc asked me if I had sweaty hands? NO! She had not explaination for it and just seemed to brush it off.

I would definately take him to a dermotologist. Especially b/c it sounds painful and he's suffering...

I forgot to mention that my husband occasionally deals w/ cracked and raw skin too, especially in the creases of his little toes & he can peel whole nails off at times w/ only minor discomfort...your sons problem still sounds fungal to me...

He has no pain, just parts of his fingers peel. It seems like it happens at a certain time of year.
