    Lyme Numbness

Hi I haven't posted in awhile. Have had Lyme for about two years. I did two months IV Rocephin August thru September this year. Have now been on doxy IV since Oct. I have had tremendous unrelenting pain in my neck and right between my shoulder blades for about 11 months. This also makes the crunchy creaking noises. Anyways this week I have new symptoms developing. I have strange tingling in my legs. And I have started to feel numbness in my lower legs right about the foot ankle area. Has anyone expierenced this? Is this also caused by Lyme? Will it get worse and could it put me in a wheelchair? Or could this just be the Lyme dying off releasing toxins?

If anyone has had this expierence please write back. And let me know if it goes away or if it leads to permanent damage of the nerves.

    Thank You.

Happy Holidays and a great healthy Lyme recovery to you in 2008.

Same here BgStan. No sweat man. Are seeing an LLMD? If not , you should. Talk with him/her about getting you some lyme appropriate IV vitamins/minerals and do some reading on magnesium and lymes. Even if you have a normal serum magnesium level you should get some. However, make sure your DR. is on board with it and have extensive knowledge on your nutritional necessities as a lymes pt.
I doubt you'll be on a wheelchair man. Just make sure you are seeking help from a good LLMD.
    Happy holydays.

    Re: Lyme Numbness

I've had numbness and tingling in my arms, legs and face off and on for years. I still have no diagnosis... my doctors thought it was MS for the longest time, even though my MRI was clear. I'm right now waiting to get into a Lyme specialist here in Canada. Anyway, I wouldn't worry about the numbness. Mine comes and goes but hasn't caused any permanent damage. I hope you get some answers and some help soon. Hang in there!

    Bigstan,
I had that shoulder pain too. It did go away after awhile on antibiotics. My neck didn't hurt as much as it "clicked". I also had (and still occasionally) feel a buzzing in my feet.I'm told this is all nerves.
My doctor assures me that on antibiotics, you will not go backwards in your healing, only forwards. Although some days I felt like I was getting worse,I now realize that I was getting better, but it was so damned slow,I couldn't see it. I remember thinking one day "hey,my neck hasn't been clicking lately" don't really know when it stopped exactly, but I was probably focused on my achy knee or twitching nerves at the time.
I found that a really flat pillow helped my neck and shoulder pain. If your head is raised up on a pillow all night it stresses the muscles.I got alot of releif also from putting a pillow under my body lenghthwise .Like a "T". A chiropracter told me that, and it worked to keep my body and head level at night. Give it a try tonight Stan.
