Wondering if this is a relapse :(

It has been such a long time since I have visited this board. Life got extremely busy between a divorce, kids graduating, being laid off from work, working 3 part time jobs to make it, going back to school and now my daughter is getting married....

Now, I am sitting her and suddenly thought I am having a lot of symptoms of bartonella again!!

A year ago I started with constant sore throats and the doctors could not figure out why so it got blamed on allergies, then even though I was going to the gym on a regular all a sudden my back became an issue with pain, the I started with some brain fog and being "an airhead" but I did have a lot going on.

I had decided to complete my classes this semester then take a long break. I am luckily in a great position now where I only need one job and life is slowing back down but suddenly I am tired all the time. Can actually fall a sleep sitting up at work.

Headaches have come on, on a regular. Out of nowhere a small ache in my forehead will be a full migraine and make me vomit. I have been to the urgent care 4 times in the past 6 weeks and end up with a shot for the pain. The headaches are daily though. My doctor is saying allergies. We are testing my thyroid again to see if that is why I feel so tired. And palpatations started again last week. Really bad. Years ago I was diagnosed as skipping beats. The dr was amazed though, said mine is so little he is surprised I feel them but the heart holster showed I was.

And weight gain. I had started taking a kickboxing turbo class months ago once a week. I immediately started gaining muscle in my thighs and legs. I suddenly have gained 20 lbs from my 129 to 149. However, to me, it is in my stomach and that is not muscle.

I am praying I am just over tired but the more I read the more I wonder. I went through 2 1/2 years of treatment with numerous medicine cocktails, 2 PICC lines, ended up losing my gallbladder from the IV meds and am scared to death at the thought of it happening again!!

Did anyone else relapse years after? Symptoms seem like bartonella or could just be from tired and allergies? Opinions greatly appreciated.

Re: Wondering if this is a relapse :(

Hi Fernee, nice to see you again. Life has been very busy for you ...hope things slow down...

All of us respond differently for all of these bacterias/viruses/protozas. Some people can get them into remission and they never pop their little heads out again. Some of us get to a point where we get better but not all the way. And some put them in remission for them only to come out later....

I would go back to the doctor that origionally treated you and see if they will look into your symptoms. My thinking is with all the stress you have been under it has popped back out.

Were you ever under treatment for Epstein Barr and Cytomeglovirus? If not you might ask a specialist to look into those also....

I think your on the right track thinking about all this...and as you know, only a good Lyme and co-infection doctor can help.

Hope you get to feeling better soon!
