    Confused with Lyme test results

    Hi All

I’ll save you the dreary details unless asked but I've been struggling with my health for the past 23 months post a "viral infection". After two Lyme tests (ELISA and WB, both through Lab Corp) via my pompous GP doctor, I finally gave in and pursued a real Lyme literate doctor. I’ve literally seen 41 specialist in just about every medical field

The LLMD reviewed my condition/symptoms and concluded that I have “classic Lyme” but needed data to back up his conclusion. Based on test results below, he’s confident I have Lyme even though the Western Blot test was negative as per IGene X protocol. The LLMD claims that a “IND” marker is a “weak positive” which IGeneX doesn't count but he does. He wants me to start on an antibiotic and autoimmune treatment for the next 4-6 months.

To all those knowledgeable with Lyme, are below results indicative of Lyme? This illness is so confusing! Any input is greatly appreciated.

    -% CD8-CD57+Lymphs =2.3 (2.0-17.0)

    -Abs. CD8-CD57+Lymphs= 51 LOW (60-360)

    - Pharmasan Lab iSpot= 186 POS (>25)

-Advance Lab Services Poly Borrelia Culture= inconclusive after 10 days; to be continued further until 8 weeks.

Re: Confused with Lyme test results

    Hey Pedro,

Great that you found an LLMD. I wouldn't get too hung up on test results. Most LLMD's diagnose first by clinical symptoms, tests only secondarily. There are many lymies who never test positive. Testing for lyme is tricky because it depends on many factors being present at the time of testing. After you start treatment you may test positive if antibodies mount a response, but if you've been diagnosed as having Lyme by an LLMD, then you have Lyme. I don't think you need to second-guess. Also, your i-spot test was positive.

    Best,

    Tess

I agree with Tess, if your LLMD diagnosed you with lyme and you have the symptoms then get on treatment.

The bands were used to track the different strains of borrelia. That is what the bands are about. Each time I was tested I would have a different band/ or bands show up. Testing is just not accurate for Lyme, Babesia, Bartonella. Labs don't test for all of the strains.

After 12 years of treatment I finally got a positive thru Igenex, and after another year of treatment I got a positive through Pharmasan.

There's a thread above that explains what the bands mean.

When you start treatment remember to detox your body, the dying bacteria will increase your symptoms.

Were all here if you have questions.

    Good luck!

    Jodie

A good LLMD will help direct you with detox methods.

I wound up getting a indoor, infared sauna. I also use charcoal capsules, and long time ago a doctor had me on Cholestermine.

Taking baths with Epsom Salts and Hydrogen Peroxide is another good one.

Just have to keep up on it. It helps pull the dead critters out. Definitely need to eliminate them at all cost.

    Glad you found treatment.

    Jodie
