    truncal lymphedema

I was diagnosed with truncal lymphedema, and subsequently with lymphedema in my left arm, pelvic/labia region, and upper legs. I had a partial masectomy 2 years ago, followed by radiation. I think the radiation blew the lymphatics in my chest wall. When I was being taught to self manage , trying to move lymph to other lymphatic drainage areas, I bean to swell everywhere else. I had a total hysterectomy several years ago, and probably compromised abdominal lymphatics. Has anyone else had similar difficulties? Why is my right arm swellin? Could my right side just be insufficient to handle the lymph from the rest of my body?

    Re: truncal lymphedema

I am so sorry to hear about your troubles. I know what you are going through. I have lymphedema in both arms, my entire upper back, and the left half of my front (from breast to hip). This occurs after I have surgeries. For me, it lasts about 6 months at a time, and that is with no treatment whatsoever. I have very limited movement during these times. I have been to many specialists and no one can help me. So all I can say is, hang in there!
