BCP at 52 years old - coming off , what to expect ?

I'm 52 and 1/2 years old, I was on BCP for 20 years.
I'm on my last pack to see where am I regarding menopause. What to expect after I get my period in a week ( last one while on the pill ) ? I know everybody is different but some experiences ?

    Thank you !

I stayed on bcp till I started skipping periods on them and then went straight to HRT. I wouldn't have dared gotten off! If you get a blood draw on the last day of your placebo pills, that FSH should be a true level. We also did that and it worked well.

My Dr. said if I stop the BCP and I get my period the next month to call her then I'm not menopausal yet she will prescribe me the pills to continue taking them , if I don't get my period she will order the blood work for me to see where am I with the hormones. I don't think one month is enough to get back on with the normal periods ? She thinks I need to stop the pills to do the blood work.

Menopausal is 12 months without a period so getting or not getting your period won't determine that. Either way you should get your FSH level checked just to see where you are - a baseline so to speak. And your period may be late without the pills to force it. Or oyu might bleed early or spot...
