Post Menopausal Bleeding - Do I need a second opinion?

I'm 54 and went through menopause years ago, without major issues. In the last year I've had 3-4 "periods", heavier than the periods I used to have. At first my doctor seemed concerned and had me come in right away for an ultrasound and a biopsy, and everything looked good. We decided to wait and see if it happened again. After the next couple of periods I called again. The doctor didn't seem very concerned. She ordered a pelvic ultrasound "just to make sure", which also showed everything looked good.
Her plan right now is to put me on estrogen (birth control pills) for 3 months, and if the bleeding returns, schedule me for a D&C and endometrial ablation. The periods, other than annoying, don't cause me any discomfort. It seems to me that you would want a full hormone panel before adding estrogen, but maybe it's unnecessary?
Should I get a second opinion before having any procedures? I read somewhere that D&Cs are not recommended for post menopausal women. I'm confused and not sure where to go from here.

Many women use bcp for menopausal issues. Rarely is a hormone panel done. Try it and see if it works. You may just need a "reset" of your system and this could help.
