    Thyroid and Perimenopause

In an hour I'm having an ultrasound done of my thyroid because it appears to be enlarged. I've been having the long list of hormonal issues due to perimenopause, and every time I've had my thyroid checked over the last couple of years everything has been okay. This is the first time that my dr. is requesting an ultrasound. I know that thyroid malfunction has similiar symptoms to perimenopause, that would certainly explain the many symptoms that I've had to deal with over the last 4 years.

Anyone else has developed thyroid "issues" since going through perimenopause? Will medication correct over active or under active thyroid? Will thyroid medication help me to shed these pounds? I know women who use to take thyroid meds. and no longer are on them because their levels are fine, and have been for years. Anyone else have had this to happen?

I look forward to hearing from others dealing with thyroid and peri.
