New to PeriMenopause--have some questions

I am almost 43 and am experiencing all the peri symptoms listed on this board. Here are my questions:

1. Am I too young? I had always heard that if you go through menopause at a young age you are aging too fast. Is that true?

2. My mother stopped having her period at 45. Is there any truth in a daughter following the same pattern as her mother?

3. How long typically does peri last?

Thanks for all your help!

No, you are not too young. I started having symptoms at 40 or 41.

You may have a cycle similar to your mother's. Yes, it can be hereditary.

I've heard the peri symptoms can last for ten years!

I started with symptoms at 41,im not 46,the only real symptoms i had at 41 was only had my period about twice a year. The hot flashes have just started this last summer.
You CAN follow the same cycle as your mother or grandmother, however,my mother had her last period at 56 and my grandmother gave birth to my mom at 45,so there goes that theory for me.
I also heard it can last 10 years,im sure its different for everyone though.Good luck,we all need it.
