Help! I Look Like My Face Is Falling Off!

Hi: I'm a newbie to this site and also a newbie (1 month) to menopause symptoms. I had a complete hysterectomy 4 yrs ago. I had been on HRT up until 6 wks ago. My PCP pulled the plug 2 days before I had major back surgery! All was well until 3 wks ago. I have been getting hot flashes (3-4 per hr), sweats, depression, social anxiety and NO SLEEP!! I thought that most of it was from being home after surgery (been out of work with this since sept 2006). Now, my skin (which had always been beautiful) is literally falling off my face! It is red, mottled, peeling and wrinkled. I am fair haired and skinned, so I am more apt to wrinkle. But, I'M ONLY 40 YRS OLD!!!! I have tried every product (I had used Aveeno Ultra Calming wash and moisterizer for yrs - can't do it anymore). Yesterday, in desperation, I slathered 2 inches of Aquaphor ointment on my face & eyes. It was very soothing, but I can't go around like that! Anyone else going through this? Any suggestions? I was going to call my physician and demand HRT. Can you go back on once you stop? Any alternatives? Thanks!.......Cat

Re: Help! I Look Like My Face Is Falling Off!

Skin really takes a beating when your estrogen gets low. Estrogen helps keep the wrinkles away. I am sure you can re-start HRT if you want too. My estrogen is low, the wrinkles are getting bad, plus my testosterone must be high because my acne is out of control! I have two problems to fight. Being only 40, you don't have as many risks with taking HRT as us older gals do. If the appearance of your skin is really bothering you, talk to your dr. There is always the cosmetic things, Botox, chemical peels etc. From personal experience the chemical peels didn't help, haven't tried Botox, but never say never! Good luck, Ann
