Thigh and Arm muscle aches and twitching..help

Hi...Hoping for someone to help relieve my anxiety and panic!
My health problems started about two years ago...My left breast started being very tender...and tingly feeling...like a nerve sensation tingling towards my nipple..But before that started, I was having sharp, quick pains near my nipple...Well...I thought the worse, imagined cancer of course...Went to gyno, said peri menopause was starting...but ordered mamogram to be sure..Had mamo every 6 months for year and a half, and went to breast specialist...Nothing found...Just perio..
Then, Last year...I started having terrible acid reflux...I was in alot of pain, and had some damage to esophagus...also had spasms in esophagus...and also laropharyngeal reflux..acid in throat area. Had upper gi done..confirmed this..
Now, a few weeks ago...I have started with muscle achey feeling in my thighs...and arms...even some twitching...so of course I freak out and think ms, or als...But, I have no problem walking..no dropping things...no actual strength weakness...jsut achy tired feeling ....I started taking b12 sublingual about 5 days ago...I can say i think it has helped somewhat..but, not completely...Also feeling weak in the knees sometimes..and almost like im vibrating sometimes in the morning when i wake up and lay still..very strange sensations!..and some mornings when i get up, i feel jittery..as if i had too much caffeine..but because of the reflux , I dont even drink caffeine!...My periods have been short the last year...lasting maybe 2-3 days...This last month...I spotted for about half a day...and then nothing...And its been 3 weeks and nothing...and, that was about the same time my legs and arms started acheing....I also have alot of anxiety ...Not sure what started first, the anxiety or the acid reflux...Ive always been a high stressed personality, but not like i am now...everything bothers me...Im always a nervous wreck...worry about everything...especially my health and all these crazy symptoms!...and I tend to look evreything up on the net..and of course my symptoms always poiont to terrible things!...i need to stop doing that!...any encouragement..advice...support would be appreciated! Thanx

Hi Yankee, Have your doctors checked any of your thyroid hormone or calcium levels. Some of the symptoms you are experiencing could be from those. I have recently had a parathyroid and half of my thyroid removed and it relieved a lot of symptoms I had. But don't count out the good old menopause, it can cause a whole list of problems. I am in full blown meno and am miserable with the symptoms it causes. Good luck.

    Re: Anxiety, panic, acid reflux

    Thanx for your replies!
I have been taking a multi vitamin and sublingual b 12. Because of my bad acid reflux, I know I dont eat properly...so, that could be part of the problem as well. I am thinking of getting a magnesium and calcium and vit d supplement as well...do you think this might help?...How long did it take for the vitamins to kick in? The heavy , gravity pulling feeling in my thighs and arms are better...and not as sore...the twitches are not as much, but stil there...Muscles seem tired, and kind of weak around my knees ....Im always so anxious about everything, and I know this tends to make it worse.
I had blood work up done a few weeks ago, and have not heard back, so I am assuming all my levels are good...I have an appt in about three weeks, so will go over blood work results then...I did not know I was supposed to fast before my blood tests, and I did eat a small amount of oatmeal that morning..Im not sure if that affected the results of my blood tests or not???..Well...its 7am here, and time to start my day...I just hope its a good one!!...lol...Sometimes I think I should see a therapist to help with all of my anxiety...
    Thanx for your support!
    Rose

I have had all the anxiety feelings you are talking about. I don't know if it's coincidence or not but I started taking Magnesium and fish oil about 4 months ago now and have noticed a big difference on the physical side, I don't feel so dizzy or shaky and even though I still wake up now and again with anxiety I feel a whole lot better than I did.

Can't wait till I am completely over this menopause malarkey!

    Re: Anxiety, panic, acid reflux

I am 3 years POST-meno and still get the racing heart palps...the fix for me was taking Calcium/Magnesium in a 2 : 1 ratio..I take 1000 mg Cal with 500 Mag and Vit D all in capsule form (the dose is 6 a day so I take 3 at night so the Palps ...Jittery feelings, don't bother me and the other 3 during the day anytime I choose..especially if I get any palps during the day that reminds me) This has definitely saved me a lot of anxiety (I went to the ER when the palps and jittery feelings first started...EKG normal and has remained normal I just had this years physical a couple days ago...EKG the same as usual.
They say that the racing palps are caused by a shortage of Magnesium...but I need the calcium and D anyway so I buy the caps that have them all together..just remember the 2:1 ratio with the Cal/Mag.
