    Menopause coping with symptoms

I had breast cancer, a masectomy chemo and then my ovaries removed. My breast cancer is hormone linked. As I can't take HRT what can I do to alleviate some of the usual symptoms of the menopause - hot flushes, night sweats, sleepless nights etc

    Re: Menopause coping with symptoms

I am sorry to hear you are in "surgical menopause." I am too and it's been a hellish ride. But thankfully, I can take estrogen. Some anti-depressants are helpful for menopausal symptoms. Also, some women who cannot take estrogen take testosterone which can also help some. But some of the testosterone (T) may aromatize into estrogen (E) so if you consider taking T, you may need to take an aromatase inhibitor (AI) to prevent this conversion of some of the T into E. But if estrogen is a no-no, I suspect you are already on an AI since we are exposed to estrogen in our foods and environment. Hope you find something that gives you relief!
