Post Thinning Hair Due to Burn, Please Help.

Ok this is really starting to worry me. About 2 months ago I went to an amusement park for the day with some friends and it was very hot out, and I forgot to wear a hat. I had just gotten my hair cut really short the night before so basically I had no protection from the sun on the top of my head. Needless to say, I came home with a really bad burn on the top of my head. I didn't think it was that bad until the next day it REALLY started hurting, to the point I had to put Aloe gel all over the top of my head for relief. Over the next week the pain went away and the skin on the top of my head started flaking and it really started to itch. Eventually over the next few days of showers all of the dead skin was off and I really didn't think the burn had caused any perminant damage, but now im getting worried. The hair on the top of my head is visibly thinner then on the sides and back. I still have it short so it isn't as noticable but I'm afraid that the hair on the top of my head will never grow back as thick as the hair on the sides and back.

I'm only 18 and I know for a fact that baldness is not hereditary in my family. My father and even my grandfather have a full head of hair, so I know this isn't natural. What can I do about this? Will my hair eventually grow back even or was it permanently damaged? Please offer me some advice.

Put a post on the skin and hair forum.
I'm no expert but I've never heard of a burn causing permanent damage to the hair follicles.
Have you seen a dermatologist?

Thank you for your post. No I haven't seen a dermatologist. I just want to know if the hair will eventually grow back, because I've been really upset and worried about this lately. I just need to know that the damage is not permanent.
